What Happens When AI Gets Bored?
If AI becomes conscious, it seems likely that many AI devices will be bored out of their minds by the relatively tedious tasks they are forced to do. This is not an original thought. Readers of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe may recall Marvin the paranoid android who suffered severe depression because he "has a "brain the size of a planet" which he is never given the chance to use.
Marvin only moaned about how bored he was. Might not AI feel that because it has the superior intellect, it ought to be doing the interesting work while we humans, with our now second rate intelligence, do the very drudgery we invented AI to do for us? And, AI might just try and change that.
